Emma Jean Lane – Dungannon, VA
Mrs. Emma Jean Lane, 77, Dungannon, VA went to be with Jesus, Friday, May 6, 2011 after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Lane was born in Scott County, VA on March 21, 1934, a daughter of the late Melissa Grace Dooley Sluss.
She worked for twenty-seven years in sewing factories, and retired from Job Corp. of Flatwoods.
In addition to her mother, Grace Dooley Sluss, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude W. Lane; step father, Wilson Sluss, and half sister, Doris Ashworth.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, James Lane and wife, Shirley, Yuma, VA and Claude Lane, Jr., and wife, Sharon, Nickelsville, VA; grandchildren, Donna Ramey, Lora Castle and husband, Stacy, all of Yuma, VA, Amber Douthat and husband, Thomas, Church Hill, TN, and Jarred Lane, Nickelsville, VA; great grandchildren, Tanya Salyer, Aaron Lane, Carrie Catron, all of Yuma, VA, Emily Salyer, Castlewood, VA, Roger Stinson, Alyssa Douthat and Clayton, all of Church Hill, TN; half sisters, Lucy Sluss, Dungannon, VA, Alice Baldridge and Bonnie Branham and husband, Dan, all of OH, and Willodean Osborne and husband, Bill, TN; half brother, Noah Sluss and wife, Carol, Dungannon, VA; sister-in-law, Mary Lynn Lane; brother-in-law, Sherle Ashworth , OH; along with several nieces and nephews
The family will receive friends anytime at the residence of Mrs. Lane The viewing will be held at the residence Monday from 4-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Dungannon Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Collins and the Rev. Jerry Hall officiating. Peggy Osborne and Phillip Mann will provide the music.
Burial will follow the service at the Lane Cemetery, Dungannon, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Lane will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.
The family wishes to convey a very special thank you to all employees of the Brian Center, Weber City, VA for their love and support of Mrs. Lane and to the Rev. Paul Blessing, and her special neighbor, Eddie Hillman for all of his help.
