Edith Marie Davis Lane

Edith Marie Davis Lane, 66, passed away, at 7:25 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2007 at her home. Born in Scott County on October 12, 1940, she was the daughter of Orbin Franklin Davis and Dorothy Marie Gamble Davis. She retired from the Scott County School Board after thirty years of service. After retirement, she spent much of her time working on the farm with her loving husband, Bruce. She enjoyed all types of needlework and quilting, along with other hobbies. Family and friends knew her as a very friendly, caring and hard-working individual. She attended New Melody Church in the Fairview Community. She was one of six children born to Orbin and Dorothy Davis, who preceded her in death. Additionally, five siblings preceded her in death, three sisters, Ethna Pearl Jones, Mary Joe Taylor, Agnes Lorene Suthard; two brothers, John Patton Davis and infant, Thomas Davis. She is survived by her husband, Bruce Keith Lane of 50 years; one daughter, Tammie Lane Bolling and her husband, David; one grandson, Gabriel Keith Bolling, who brought great joy to her life. Several nieces and nephews also survive her. Visitation is to be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at Gate City Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley. The family will meet at the cemetery for graveside services. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
