Danny Lee Lane, 62, Fall Branch, TN passed away unexpectedly, Friday, May 23, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Danny was born in Scott County, VA August 3, 1951 to the late Worley Lee and Nina Faye Kendrick Lane.
He retired from Tennessee Eastman and was a retired Sergeant with the Virginia Army National Guard.
Surviving is his sons, Daniel Lane, Kingsport, TN and David Lane and wife, Kristen, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Danielle Lane, Sydney Lane, Taylor Mills, Kaitlen Cleek, David Lane II, Ashlynne Lane, Alexus Lane and Gracey Lane; sisters, Kathy Davidson and husband, Fred, Gate City, VA and Peggy Lawson and husband, Ronnie, Ft. Blackmore, VA; niece, Anna Dean; and nephew, Dustin Davidson; and special friend Susan Surcey.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son, Daniel. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Musick and Rev. Gene Stallard officiating. Pine Grove Harmony will provide the music.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Lane Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA conducted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honors Team, Gate City, VA, who will serve as pallbearers. Dustin Davidson, Daniel Dean, Jeff Johnson, Brian Boling, B.J. Richardson, Ronnie Lawson, Fred Davidson, and Scott Denney will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
