Mr. Lane born December 29, 1932 is a son of the late John M. Lane and Tempie Lawson Lane. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Pendleton and Gracie Sawyer

Surviving is a special friend, Lovely Bowen of Gate City, VA., a daughter, Velma Still of Church Hill, TN. two sons, Darroll and wife, Cindy Lane of Ft. Blackmore, VA and Jimmy and wife, Marie Lane also of Gate City, VA. One brother, H. Ray Lawson of Knoxville, TN. Grandsons, Kevin Starnes, Brandon Still, John Lane and Brett Lane, Granddaughters, Nichole Alexander, Savannah Splawn, Keishia Still and Victoria Lane. Great Grandchildren, Destiny Starnes and Allie Starnes with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive family and friends from 11-1:00 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home and any time at the residence of Jimmy and Marie Lane. Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial chapel of the funeral home with Rev. James Mann officiating. Music will be provided by The Clinch River Boys.
Interment will follow the service at Lawson Family Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
