Mrs. Joy Brickey Kinkead, 83, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Monday, June 3, 2013 at her residence in Ft. Blackmore, VA.
Mrs. Kinkead was born in Scott County, VA on April 24, 1930 to the late Clyde M. and Bonnie Mary Fields Brickey.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Elmer Carson "Dude" Kinkead; grandson, David Gillenwater; and sister, Billie Taylor preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Joan Gillenwater and husband, Sam, Kingsport, TN and Janet Gortney and husband, John, Jonesborough, TN; granddaughter, Pamela Hutchson and husband, Kyle, Cummings, GA; step grandson, Chris Gortney and wife, Janie, Kingsport, TN; great grandchildren, Chase and Avie Hutchson, Cummings, GA; step great granddaughter, Khazel Gortney, Kingsport, TN; brothers, Ted Brickey and wife, June, Kingsport, TN, Bob Brickey and wife, Phyllis, Kingsport, TN; and Dan Brickey and wife, Shirley, Dungannon, VA; half sister, Rebecca Hensley, Mount Carmel, TN; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jackie Strickler officiating.
Private Graveside services will be conducted at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend their very heartfelt thanks to her special caregivers, Lakie Hall, Shirley Begley, Amy Bledsoe, Elizabeth Finch, Brenda Salling, and Brenda Mann; and toWellmont Hospice, Bristol Home Health, and Dr. Steve Adkins for their love and care.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Ft. Blackmore United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 374, Dungannon, VA 24245 in memory of Joy B. Kinkead.
