Colleen Dockery Kinkead – Ft. Blackmore, VA
Maxie Colleen Dockery Kinkead, 81, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Maxie was born in Scott County, VA on December 31, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Brownie Logan and Mattie (Hensley) Dockery.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Otis Edward “Doc” Kinkead; sisters, Valice Perry and Virda Lawson; brothers, Donnie Dockery and Emmitt Dockery; and nephews, Dustin Carrico and Eddie Lee Gibson preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Randall “Buck” Kinkead and wife, Kay, Dungannon, VA; granddaughter, Amy Vicars and husband, William, Nickelsville, VA; great grandchildren, Levi and Kylie Vicars; sisters, Kate Gibson, Ft. Blackmore, VA and Connie Dockery, Ft. Blackmore, VA; brothers, James Dockery, Clinchport, VA, Larry Dockery and wife, Margaret, Nickelsville, VA, Ronnie Dockery, Gate City, VA, Junior Dockery, Gate City, VA, Howard Dockery, Gate City, VA, and Dave Dockery, Gate City, VA; special niece, Marie Lucas and husband, Eugene, Church Hill, TN; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Buck and Kay Kinkead. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. George Gibson and Rev. Robbie Dockery officiating. Pine Grove Harmony will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the Sanders Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Jason Hill, Charles “Doc” Starnes, Gale Gibson, Tommy Dockery, Sam Dockery, Jim Gibson, Jeff Gibson, and Danny Dockery will serve as pallbearers. Kyle Horne, Larry Joe Carter, and Craig Carter will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., Sunday to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family would like to thank Dr. Wesley Eastridge and staff and the staff of NOVA Health and Rehab for their love and support of Colleen.
