Emmett Kimbler

Emmett Alfred Kimbler, 88, Kingsport, TN and formerly of Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Kimbler was born in Scott County, VA on November 5, 1919, a son of the late Rufus and Leiza Compton-Kimbler. He was employed by the Tennessee Eastman Company for forty-two years and loved hunting, fishing and farming.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
He is survived by his best friend, Helen Pitt, Kingsport, TN, daughters, Patsy Cook and husband, Rick, Sr., Kingsport, TN and Kay Kimbler, also of Kingsport, TN, grandsons, Chris Cook and Trey Cook, brother, Arnold Kimbler, Ft. Blackmore, VA, sisters, Opal Flanary, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Ruby Sanders, Kingsport, TN, Lillian Kimbler, Ft. Blackmore, VA and Janie Kimbler, Ft. Blackmore, VA along with several loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Charlie Taylor officiating. Clinch River Boys will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, July 13, 2008 at the Kimbler Family Cemetery, Kimblertown Road in the Ft. Blackmore community of Scott County, VA.
Lawton Stallard, J.R. Stallard, Paul Sanders, Richard Harris, Chris Kimbler and Elmer Starnes will serve as pallbearers. Bill Darnell, Larry Darnell, Ken Lane and Ray Lane will serve as honorary pallbeares.
Family and friends will be meeting at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., Sunday to go in procession to the graveside service.
