Arnold Wiley Kimbler, 78, entered into rest August 31, 2009 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

He was born November 10, 1930 in Scott County, VA. He was the son of Rufus Kimbler and Eliza Compton Kimbler. He was a lifetime resident of Scott County and a retired farmer. He was of the Baptist faith.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.

Survivors include his four sisters, Opal Flanary, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Ruby Sanders, Kingsport, TN, Lillian and Janie Kimbler, of the home, who were his loving caregivers; nieces, Glenda Head, Gate City, VA, Kathy Harris and husband, Richard, Kingsport, TN, Wanda Shipley and husband, Richard, Blountville, TN, Mildred Mitchell and husband, Forrest, Arlington, VA; nephews, Paul Sanders, Kingsport, TN, Lawton Stallard and wife, Judy, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Johnny Stallard and wife, Linda, Gate City, VA; several great nieces and one great nephew; several great great nieces and great great nephews; many cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Charlie Taylor officiating. Music will be provided by Phillip Elliott and Toke Hensley.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2009 at the Kimbler Cemetery, Alley Valley Community. The family will meet at 10 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery for the graveside service.

Pallbearers will be Lawton Stallard, Johnny Stallard, Paul Sanders, Richard Harris, Larry Darnell and Chris Kimbler.

Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Shipley, Barlow Hill, William Kimbler, Doc Starnes and Bill Darnell.

Gate City Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Kimbler family.
