Norma Jean Kilgore, 78, went to be with Jesus with her loving family by her side on Saturday, September 10, 2011. Mrs. Kilgore was born July 14, 1933.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy W. Kilgore, Jr.; her mother and father, Blanche and Willard Addington; a baby sister, Violet Ruth Addington; and sister, Thelma Broadwater.
She was a member of the Nickelsville Baptist Church and the Nickelsville Eastern Star.
She is survived by her daughters, Diane Williams and husband, Darrell of Gate City, VA. Jean Quillen and husband, Tim of Nickelsville, VA; four grandchildren, Michele Broadwater and fiancé, Jim Bennett, LeAnne Shelton and husband, Tony, Lisa Calhoun and husband, Barry, and Jonathan Broadwater and wife, Heather; six great grandchildren, Savannah Blackman and C.J. Bennett, Cole and Raegan Shelton, Michael and Connor Calhoun; and her longtime friend, Etta Baker.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, September 12th at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Jean and Tim Quillen. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Collins officiating. Jack Troutman and Sabra Collins will provide the music.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at the Addington Cemetery, Nickelsville, VA. Jonathan Broadwater, Tony Shelton, Barry Calhoun, Jim Bennett, and Eddie Broadwater will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Tuesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, POB 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718, or the local chapter at 365 Mocking Bird Drive, Gate City, VA 24251 (Scott County Relay for Life); or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, email, donors@stjude.org.
