Leta Karen Kerns – Duffield, VA
Leta Karen Kerns, 77, Duffield, VA passed away, Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Leta was born June 24, 1939 in Scott County, VA. She was the daughter of the late Noble Conley (N.C.) and Lucille (Peterson) Bishop.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Harold Junior Kerns; sister, Nell Tankersley; and brothers, Larry Bishop, Kyle Bishop, and Boyd Bishop preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Kerns McMahan, Duffield, VA; grandson, Hunter McMahan, Duffield, VA; brothers, Fred Bishop and wife, Wilma, Duffield, VA, Wayne Bishop and wife, Dorothy, Duffield, VA, and Ron Bishop and wife, Phyllis, Burke, VA; along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Lewie Meade officiating. Jim Gates will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m, Monday, October 3, 2016 at Temple Hill Memorial Gardens, Castlewood, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
