Harold J. Kerns, 74, Duffield, VA passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Wellmont Holston Valley
Medical Center.
Mr. Kerns was born in Virginia on October 9, 1940 the son of the late Charlie W. and Nancy Lee “Nannie” Kerns.
In addition to his parents; his sister, Ruby Iovanna; infant twin brothers, Dennis Roger and Bruce Edward Kerns preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Leta Kerns, Duffield, VA; devoted daughter, Melissa Kern McMahan, Duffield, VA; sisters, Elsie and Herley Carty, Berlin Heights, OH, Regina and Lewie Meade, Kingsport, TN, Brenda and David Thomas, Wise, VA; brother, Earl Kerns, Cincinnati, OH; beloved grandson, Hunter McMahan, Duffield, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Lewie Meade officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Temple Hill Cemetery, Castlewood, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Funeral Home to help with the funeral bill for Mr. Kerns.
