Cathy Monette Kerns, age 52, of Avilla, IN died on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville, IN.
Mrs. Kerns was born in Pattonsville, VA on February 2, 1959 to the late Oscar and Louise (Tomlinson) Bledsoe.
Her step-father, Johnny Kerns, also preceded her in death.
She married Arland Kerns in June 1978 in Gate City, Virginia and they were married 21 years before preceded her death in in September 1999 at their home in Pattonsville, VA.
Cathy moved to Indiana from Virginia in 2001. Here she worked at Hickory Creek Nursing of Kendallville for three years and she also worked two years at the Chandler House.
Cathy was a member of Roller's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church of Pattonsville, VA and she liked to read and spend time with her family.
Survivors include: her only sister, Shirley Helen Kern and her husband, Walter Kern of Avilla; special friends, Betty and Larry Jackson of LaGrange County, IN; special aunts to Cathy are Ellen Thompson and Mary Danner, both of Stickleyville, VA; and a special cousin, Brenda Fletcher of Church Hill, TN.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 18, 2012, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Gate City Funeral Home, 136 Beech Street, Gate City, VA. Funeral services will follow the visitation on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Gate City Funeral Home with Evangelists Kenneth Neely and Gary Hood officiating.
Burial and committal service will take place Thursday, January 19, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Tomlinson Cemetery in Pattonsville, Virginia. Family and friends will meet at the graveside at 10:00 a.m.
Virginia arrangements are in the care of the Gate City Funeral Home, 136 Beech Street, Gate City, VA 24251. Indiana arrangements have been entrusted to Hite Funeral Home, 403 South Main Street, Kendallville, IN 46755.
