Madeline Rose Kern – Duffield, VA
Madeline Rose Kern, 53, Duffield, VA, had had all of the pain and suffering she could take, and started her new adventure in her glorified body at 4:56 a.m., Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Madeline was born in Sullivan County, TN on May 18, 1965. She was the daughter of the late Lee Harold and Marie Nadine (Stewart) Kern.
In addition to her parents her Mamaw, who raised her, Maude Stewart; brothers, Earl and Darrell Kern; and sister-in-law, Gena Kern preceded her in death.
Madeline said what she thought and meant what she said, had “no filter”, and made people laugh. Her favorite saying was “you are driving me hooty-bats”!
Surviving is her sister, Teresa Kern Hill and husband, Rex; nephews, Mitchell and Russell Kern, who lovingly called her “the great Madelino”; and a special friend, who visited her often at Ridgecrest, Rose Jessee Byington.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Greene Cemetery in Dingus Hollow, Scott County, VA, with Brother Bill Herndon officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Members of the 1983 graduating class of Rye Cove High School will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service. The road is extremely rough and will require a 4x4 drive.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and staff of Ridgecrest Manor, Duffield for all the love and care they gave to Madeline over the years; and to the staff of Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center ICU and Wilcox Hall for their exemplary care.
