Clyde C. Kern, 75, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Monday, October 17, 2011 at Indian Path Medical Center.
Mr. Kern was born in Scott County, VA on September 4, 1936, the son of the late Rad and Della Pruitt Kern.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years Linda Kay Kern and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Cyntheia Darlene Hudson, (Darl), Lynchburg, VA and Bille Lynn Darnell ,(Hubert), Gate City, VA; son and daughter-in-law, Clyde C. Kern, Jr., (Penny), Ft. Blackmore, VA; grandchildren, William Eric Wilson, Eleah Whitney Wilson, Holly Darnell Ramsey and husband, Joey, Tatum Nicole Darnell, and Angela Jean Kern; his expected great grandson, Jasper Ryan Ramsey; sister, Dora Carter, Ft. Blackmore, VA; brother, Kyle H. Kern, (Beulah), Stanleytown, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friend from 11-1 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Wrightly Salling officiating.
Burial will follow the service at the Kern Cemetery in the Bishoptown community of Scott County, VA with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3 of Kingsport, TN and Post # 265 of Gate City, VA and members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. Jeff Wilson, Mike Edwards, Travis Kern, Steve Horton, Bill Horton, Dave Horton, and David Carter will serve as pallbearers.
