Agnes Lucy Kern, 72, of Kingsport, TN, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. Kern was born in Scott County, VA on March 3, 1940 to the late Clarence and Maude Harden Starnes.
She was a member of Orebank Chapel Central Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Kern and an infant sister, Juanita Starnes.
Mrs. Kern is survived by her sons, David Kern and his wife, Marilyn of Kingsport, TN , Dale Kern and fiancé Norma Christie of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Bridget Harrison and husband Steven, Sonya, Rebecca, Andrew, J.T. and Ronnie Kern; one great-grandson, Isaac Meade and a special niece, Connie Caldwell; Special Friends, Patty Melton and family, Diane Thacker and family
The Kern family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of Gate City Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 25, 2012. The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. with Reverend Lelbert Thornburg officiating. Rejoicing Voices will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will meet at the cemetery for the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Orebank Chapel Church building fund.
