Rev. William J. "Bill" Kendrick Jr.

September 20, 1938 — January 30, 2020

Rev William (Bill) J. Kendrick, Jr. entered his heavenly home and the presence of his Heavenly Father following an extended illness. He died at his home in Satsuma, Alabama on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at the age of eighty-one.
Bill is survived by his wife, Patricia (Pat); one daughter, Karen L. Isham; two sons, Dr. William T. Kendrick, and Dr. Johnny L. Kendrick and his wife, Jill; and daughter in law, Sherry Kendrick. He is preceded in death by his son, Rev. Michael A. Kendrick, and daughter in law, Terri Kendrick. He is survived by 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Bill was born on September 20, 1938 in Scott County, Virginia to William Jasper and Victoria Crook Kendrick. He graduated from Midway High School. He received an associate degree from Graham Bible College and a degree in Christian Ministry from Carson Newman College. In 1999, he was certified as an intentional interim pastor. Bill and Pat married in 1958 and resided in Baltimore, Maryland for two years before moving back to Scott County, Virginia. He attended barber school and worked as a barber for eleven years before becoming a full-time pastor. He was instrumental in establishing two churches in the Scott County, Midway Baptist Church and Roadside Baptist Mission. As a pastor and an intentional interim pastor, he served numerous churches in Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia for the last 57 years. His last ministry was as Director of Missions of Clinch Valley Baptist Association. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Gate City, Virginia. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Andy Barnes and Rev. Jeff DeBoard will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend.
