Edward Joyner – Gate City, VA

Edward D. "Ed" Joyner, 80, of Gate City, VA, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Nova Health and Rehabilitation Center in Weber City, VA. He was born in Scott County, VA June 23, 1932 to Susie Joyner.

In addition to his parents, Edward is preceded in death by his wife, Kylene Tipton Joyner; sister, Nancy Carter; and brother, Leroy Joyner.

He is survived by four daughters, Angie Shepherd and husband Tim of Johnson City, TN, Marsha Rose and husband Jim of Mt. Carmel, TN, Lisa Akers and husband Eddie of Kingsport, TN, and Lana Laney of Gate City, VA; son, Dwight Joyner and wife Mellisa of Gate City, VA; sister, Faye Gilliam of Gate City, VA; grandchildren, April McMillian, Trina Howington, Perry Akers, Sydnee Akers, Clayton Laney, and Breeann Laney; great grandchildren, Kristen Austin, Brooke Howington, Austin Howington, Darby McMillian, and Kiara McMillian; special friend, Barbara Pierson of Kingsport, TN; special neighbors, R. D. and Eloise Stallard, Chuck and Rhonda Lindsey, and Mike Gilliam; along with several nieces and nephews.

A special Thank You goes to caregivers at Nova Health and Rehab and physical therapist, Lindsey Jones at Brookhaven Manor.

The Joyner family will receive friends Saturday, June 8, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of Gate City Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Allen Hensley officiating. Patsy Hensley will provide the music.

Graveside services for Mr. Joyner will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA. Family will serve as pallbearers. The family will meet at the cemetery.
