Joyce Akers

Joyce Akers, 74 passed away February 18, 2023, at Elmcroft/American House in Kingsport TN.

She was born in Scott County, VA on March 27, 1948, to the late A.C. and Mary Ellen (Lane) Smith.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in  death by her first husband, Dow Lane, second husband Ray Akers; sister Rosie Bledsoe, and brothers Ray, Coy, Will, Pat, Ike, and Craft Smith.

She is survived by her sisters Faye Roller, Duffield, VA, and Lucille Fannon, Gainesville, GA, brother Cloise (Linda) Smith, Duffield, VA, along with several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 20, 2023, at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City VA. Officiating the service will be  Rev. T. J. Hood. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Family and friends are asked to meet at Gate City Funeral Home, at 12:15 p.m.,  to go in procession to the graveside service.
