Maynard C. Jordan, 86, Nickelsville, VA went to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Wise County, VA on March 15, 1930. He was the son of the late Roy Dayton and Bessie Ruth Holbrook Jordan.
He served in the Army where he was veteran of the Korean War and was awarded two Bronze Stars along with a United Nations Service Medal. He was a member of the Nickelsville Town Council, and his hobbies were pitching horse shoes and fishing.
In addition to his parents, his son Ronnie and David Jordan; and his brothers, Bill and Raymond Jordan preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of sixty years, Esta Jessee Jordan; daughter, Connie Jordan and special friend, Michael Salyer; son, Randy Jordan and wife, Sherry; adopted sons, Shaun Stapleton and Travis Stapleton and wife, Robin; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sisters, Jean Long, Shirley Addison, and Sue Adams; brothers, Bruce Jordan and wife, Jill, Bert Jordan and wife, Peggy, Don Jordan and wife, Toby, Doug Jordan and wife, Page; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Roger Phillips and Evangelist Travis Stapleton officiating.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Post#3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard Team at 11:00 a.m, Friday, June 26, 2015 at Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at mausoleum at Temple Hill for the graveside service.
