Nannie Myrtle Jones – Gate City, VA
Nannie Myrtle Jones, 98, Gate City, VA went to be with her Lord, Sunday, August 4, 2019 at NOVA Health and Rehab.
Nannie was born in Scott County, VA on April 28, 1921 to the late Newt and Virgie (McDavid) Hammonds.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Rev. William Henderson Jones; grandsons, Billy Randal and David Bellamy; son-in-law, William (Bill) Bellamy (2019); sisters, Lula Jennings, Lizzie Tipton, and an infant sister; and brothers, Bradley, Odell, Johnny, Bill, and Ray Hammonds preceded her in death.
Surviving are her daughters, Nancy Houseright and husband, Berl, Kingsport, TN and Charlotte Bellamy, Gate City, VA; son, James and wife, Patsy, Gate City, VA; 7 grandchildren; several great and great great grandchildren; sisters, Ettie Spivey, Gate City, VA and Shirley Tipton and husband, Coy, Gate City, VA; brothers, Jim Hammonds, Kingsport, TN, Gene Hammonds, Kingsport, TN, Bob Hammonds and wife, Lynn, Kingsport, TN, and Ben Hammonds and wife, Marie, Gate City, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Wayne Bledsoe officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 9, 2019 at the Hammonds Family Cemetery on the top of Copper Ridge in Scott County, VA.
Jack France, Don Flanary, Christopher Houseright, Josh France, Kenneth France, Josh Jones, Jake Jones, and Neal Bland will serve as pallbearers. Paul Greene, Steve Jones, Brad Dockery, Fred Carter, and James Jones will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at 12:15 pm at the funeral home to go in procession to the graveside service.
