Larry Howard Jones, 71, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Indian Path Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born in Sullivan County, TN on September 13, 1946. He was the son of the late Howard Leslie and Bertha Irene (Smith) Jones.
He was a self-employed carpenter after retiring from J.P. Stevens with 34 years of service.
Larry was of the Holiness Faith.
In addition to his parents, his brother-in-law, Randy Jenkins; niece, Summer Kilgore, and nephew, Josh Jones preceded him in death.
He is survived by his precious wife of 48 years, Peggy Jones, Ft. Blackmore, VA; children, Sharon Bryant, Larry Miracle and wife, Christy, Karen Waycaster and husband, David, Mike Jones and wife, Kelsey, Brian Jones and wife, Elizabeth, and son at heart, Richie Leighton and wife, Amy; siblings, David Jones and wife, Glenda, Patsy Jenkins, Treva Jones and husband, Scott Carver, and Leshia Kilgore and husband, Donald; grandchildren, Jessie Brown, Dakota Brown, Eli Waycaster, Willow Waycaster, Hallie Miracle, Clayton Light, Colton, Maddison, and Grayson Jones; great grandchildren, Noah and Audrey; along with nieces and nephews, Greg, Suzanne, Jeff, Jessica, Kristen, Tim, Lauren, Larry, Scotty, Paula, Bridgette, Lynn, Sheila, and Chris.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Tim Owens officiating.
Gravesides services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Fall Branch United Methodist Church Cemetery, Fall Branch, TN. His nephews, Larry Tipton, Scotty Tipton, Greg Jones, Jeff Jenkins, Chris Rhoton, and Tim Marshall will serve as pallbearers. Keith Carr, J.M. Dorton, and Gary Jones will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
