Guy Henry Johnson – Kingsport, TN
Guy Henry Johnson went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 20th at Holston Valley Medical Center due to complications from broken hip and other health issues.
Guy was a Christian of the Baptist faith and attended Cedar Grove Church when his health permitted.
Guy was born March 7, 1931 in Hancock, TN to his mother and father, Mr. John Johnson, and Mrs. Maude Smith Johnson who preceded him in death. Guy was also preceded in death by his wife, Marie Fuller Johnson.
Guy worked for many years at Holston Builders Supply in Kingsport and upon retiring he continued to work with Mr. Wayne Long installing cabinetry. Guy loved NASCAR and watched or listened to every race he could. In past years Guy also liked to do woodworking, carpentry, raise a nice garden and do bee-keeping.
Survivors include his special friend and companion of fourteen years, and his caregiver for the last five years, Nancy Shelton, Gate City, VA; special friends, and sons of Nancy, Steven Shelton and wife, Lori, and Ryan Shelton, all of Gate City, VA; his two special "granddaughters", Haley Shelton, Dryden, VA and Emma Shelton, Gate City, VA; sisters, Eveline McGee, Eidson, TN, and Arizona Collins, Kingsport, TN, brothers, H.C. Johnson and wife, Pearl, Rogersville, TN, and Wiley Johnson, Kingsport, TN; special neighbors, Mike and Ruth Flanary, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Allen Hensley and the Rev. Dean Sturgill officiating. Wendy Aistrop and Friends will provide the music.
Burial will follow at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA with Marvin Johnson, Danny Johnson, Mike Flanary, Ryan Shelton, Steven Shelton, and Daniel Vannoy serving as pallbearers. Wayne Long, Tony McGee, Claude Smith and Eckel Herron will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family wishes to express a special Thank You to Dr. David Franzus and his staff for their attentive and loving care of Guy over the years, and also a Thank you to the ER staff, ICU step-down staff and Wilcox Hall Staff at Holston Valley Medical Center.
