Cathy Johnson, Duffield, VA
Cathy Minor Johnson, 69, of Duffield, VA, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Cathy was born in Scott County, VA on May 11, 1946 to the late Florence Miller and Charlie Minor.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Florence Miller Minor; sister and brother in law Margaret and Ernie Hickam; father in law and mother in law, Elmer and Geneva Johnson.
Cathy Retired from Eastman Chemical Co. and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her husband of more than 50 years John F. Johnson, Duffield, VA; very special nephew who she loved dearly, Greg Munsey of Roseville, CA; special friends, Missie Hensley and Dennis (Den-Den) Winston who called her “Second Mommy” Janice Fields and Sharon Johnson who were like sisters. Other special friends; Zane and Regina Starnes; Special cousins, Carmen and John Henry Shupe, David and Teresa Shupe, Amber Shupe and Travis Shupe; very special niece and part time caregiver Anita Sloan; friends and co-workers, Tammy Arnold, Kathy Dawn Willidene Davenport, Mary Ruth Sumner, Reba Glover, Dean “Homeboy” Gray; special neighbors, June Fannon, Ola Mellons, Lois Cobb, Marie Jones, James Jones and daughter Samantha; also the surviving members of Rye Cove High School Class of 1964, especially Charles Bishop, Genis and Phyllis Ford and James and Mary Ann Miller.
In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to the Scott County Humane Society in honor of Cathy’s fur babies. Also many thanks to Tim Rasnick, DVM, for taking good care of Cathy’s fur babies day or night. The family also requests that no food be brought to the house
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Sunday, December 20, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home with Rev. Riley Boy officiating. Dale Smith will provide the music.
Graveside services will follow directly after the Funeral Service at Holston View Cemetery. Dennis (Den-Den) Winston, David Shupe, Travis Shupe, Clint Miller, Jimmy Calhoun, James Jones, Josh Winton and Arlis Johnson will serve as pallbearers with Zane Starnes and John Henry Shupe will serve as honorary pallbearers.
