B.J. Johnson – Ft. Blackmore, VA
Bobby “B.J.” “Pap” Johnson, 84 passed away, Friday, June 6 2014 at his residence.
B.J. was born in Scott County, VA on March 2, 1930 to the late George Walker and Nannie Casteel Johnson. He retired from A.F.G. and from Paramont Mines where he was affectionately known to his co-workers as “Papaw”. He was an avid farmer until his passing, and was always seen with his constant companion, his dog, Collie.
He was a member of Pendleton’s Chapel Church.
In addition to his parents, his son-in-law, Michael Hass preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris Presley Johnson; daughters, Sharon Johnson Hass, Janet and Clifford Estep, and Genevieve and Barry Kenny; sons, Greg and Trixie Johnson, William and Angie Johnson, and Chris and Tammy Presley; grandchildren, Celesa and Jonathan Broadwater, Tyler Estep, Amelia and Tim Steltzer, Carter Kenny, Eli Kenny, Sophia Kenny, Lex Johnson, Alex Johnson, Brett and Brittany Salling, and Chris and Veronica Presley; great grandchildren, Nora Estep, Tatum Estep, Clay Broadwater, Cori Broadwater, and babies Steltzer and Salling, both due in September; sisters, Judy and Harold Lawson, June Presley, Joan Austin, Charlotte and Denny Price, and Bronya and Eric Rhymer; brothers, Stan and Lakie Presley, Doug and Tommie Presley, Paul and Mary Ann Presley, and C.H. Presley; uncle, L.V. Casteel; along with several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Gate City Funeral Home and from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Pendleton’s Chapel Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Pendleton’s Chapel Church, Ft. Blackmore, VA with Rev. Kevin Sanders and Rev. Ray Dockery officiating. The Pendleton’s Chapel Church Singers will provide the music.
Burial will follow the service at Cowden’s Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
