Nellie Marie Jessee, 75, Powell, TN went to be with the Lord, with her family by her side on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center, Knoxville, TN.
Mrs. Jessee was born in Ft. Blackmore, VA on November 12, 1938 to the late Bill and Ruth Thompson Stanley.
In addition to her parents, her sister, Mary Ruth Tipton, brothers, Cecil and Claude Stanley, sisters-in-law, Bertha and Modella Stanley, and brother-in-law, Ralph Carter preceded her in death.
Marie was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church in Powell, TN and regularly attended when she was able. Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Cecil H. Jessee, Sr., Powell, TN, son, Cecil H. "C.H." Jessee, Jr. and wife, Jennifer, Jefferson City, TN; special grandson, Robert Lee "R.L." Jessee, Jefferson City, TN; sisters, Jewell Daugherty and husband, Glen, Duffield, VA, Faye Hill and husband, Jr., Duffield, VA, and Glenda Kern an d husband, Danny, Duffield, VA; brother, Phillip Stanley and wife, Peggy, Duffield, VA; a special niece, Kim Salling, along with several other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m.., Monday, December 9, 2013 at Cox's Chapel, Mabe, VA with Rev. Tim Day officiating. Durham's Chapel Quartet and the Hill Top Baptist Church Singers will provide the music.
The burial will follow the service at Cox Chapel Cemetery in the Mabe community of Scott County, VA. Christopher Salling, Allen Stanley, Jimmy Jessee, Roger Carter, Rob Ensley, and Larry Carter will serve as pallbearers. Robert Wilkerson and Wayne Dawson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
