Mr. Robert Nelson "Bob" Jennings passed away, Thursday, March 17, 2011 at his home in Gate City. Mr. Jennings was born in Scott County, VA on May 2, 1928.
He was preceded in death by his father, Will Jennings and mother, Mattie Taylor Jennings, his wife, Betty Craft Jennings, three sisters, Mary, Thelma, and Betty; and brothers, Ed and Jack "Pedro."
Surviving are his daughter Rebecca Jennings, and husband Mike Majors, Harrison, AR; sons, Ryland N. Jennings, Gate City, VA, Robert G. "Buck" Jennings and wife Caroline, Gate City, VA,; grandchildren, Kate Taylor and husband David, Kelsey Jones and husband Mike, Jake Jennings and Lindsey, and Summer Jennings; two great grandchildren, Avary Jennings and Sydnee Taylor; and Special Friend and Love of His Life, Hilda Cooper, Erwin, TN.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2011 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Gate City Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Barber officiating.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, March 20, 2011 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA . Pete Pendleton, Mike Jones, Jake Jennings, Andy Shelton, Tommy Catron, and Mike Majors will serve as pallbearers. John King and former employees of King Ford will serve as honorary pallbearers. Contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
