Michael Allen Jenkins – Gate City, VA
Michael Allen Jenkins, 54, Gate City, VA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Russell County Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mike was born in Spokane, WA on August 17, 1957, the son of Charles Jenkins and Reta Fern Cooney Smith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Jenkins.
Surviving are his wife, Denise A. Jenkins, Gate City, VA; sons, Jason Jenkins and wife, Stacie, Gate City, VA, Brandon Jenkins, Sumpter, SC, and Taylor Jenkins, Gate City, VA; grandsons, Carson and Parker Jenkins, parents, Jimmy and Reta Smith, Duffield, VA; brother, Randy Jenkins, Mt. Carmel, TN; nephew, Grayson Jenkins; and paternal grandmother, Opal Smith, Duffield, VA.
The family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m., Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Higher Ground Baptist Church, Lynn Garden. Funeral services will be begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. with Dr. Phil Hoskins and Greg Carlyle officiating. Chuck Odum and the Higher Ground Choir will provide the music.
Military Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 26, 2012 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA by the American Legion Hammond Post #, Kingsport, TN and Post #265 of Gate City, VA, assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. Mike Jenkins Evangelistic Association Board Members, Wiley Webb, Doug Humphreys, Rev. W. A. Johnson, Terry Kilgore, Chris Bowen, Dr. Steve Yallourakis, Scottie Vermillion and Danny Humphreys will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to MJEA Feed Africa Mission Fund, P.O. Box 1828, Gate City, VA 24251.
