John L. Jenkins, Sr. – Gate City, VA
John Lewis Jenkins, Sr., 74, Gate City, VA went to his Heavenly home Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Jenkins was born in Scott County, VA on July 6, 1936, son of the late Carlos E. and Virgia Williams Jenkins. He was retired from US Air Force, Scott County Sheriff's Department, and the Town of Weber City.
He was a member of the Shriners, the Masons, and the Blue Knights International.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jenkins.
Surviving is his son, John L Jenkins, Jr. and wife, Cindy, Belfair, WA; daughter Gwen Davis and husband, Larry, CA; grandchildren, John Jenkins, Diamond Jenkins, Katrina Jenkins, Carrie Wright, Christopher Piercy, all of WA, and Lidia Davis, CA; brothers, Gary Jenkins, Olympia, WA, Lonnie Jenkins and wife, Lenice, Gate City, VA, and Ronald Jenkins and wife, Ellen, Carlisle, PA; sister, Sharon Meade and husband, Rick, Gray, TN; soul mate, Leona Pierson, and his loyal companion, Judy; as well as a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
It was John's wish to be cremated.
The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funereal home with Brother Larry Tolley, Pastor of Catron's Chapel Baptist Church officiating.
The family requests that donations be made to the Bridge Home No Kill Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 654, Blountville, TN 37617, or to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
