James O McCloud

James McCloud- Gate City, VA

James McCloud, 90, Gate City, VA, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at his residence after a period of declining health.

He was born in Lebanon, VA, on April 15, 1932, to the late George Marvin McCloud and Sylvia Puckett McCloud.

James was funny and kindhearted, He also enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Along with his parents, his sons, Jody E. McCloud, Jerel McCloud, and daughter, Jill Deanna McCloud precede him in death.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force.  Prior to moving to Virginia, he retired from Kennedy Space Center .

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Betty (Powers) McCloud, Gate City, VA; daughter, Jacque Jeffreys (Jack), Melbourne, FL; sons, Lynn McCloud (Rose), Cocoa, FL, Jeffery McCloud, Gate City, VA, Jason McCloud (Leslie), Gate City, VA, and Joseph McCloud, Mt. Carmel, TN; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of life will be conducted Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 5:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Ed McLain officiating.
