James Ira Lane, Jr. – Ft. Blackmore, VA
James Ira “Bean” Lane, Jr., 87, Ft. Blackmore, VA, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024, at his residence.
“Bean” was born in Scott County, VA on August 7, 1936, to the late James Ira and Nora Ava Dockery Lane.
In addition to his parents, his sisters, Lucille Lawson, Nellie “Jan” Ingle, brothers, Burin Lane, Edward Lane, Fred Lane, and Donald Bill Lane preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gracie Mildred Ramey Lane; daughters, Shelby Cantrell, Peggy Ervin, Tina Lane, Carolyn Gillenwater and special son-in-law, Greg; special grandsons who were raised by James and Gracie, Marty Laney (Heather) and Mickey Laney; sister, Ethel Fraysier; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00pm Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the James Lane Family Cemetery, 723 Strong Hollow Lane, Ft. Blackmore, VA with Pastor Brandon Smith officiating. Johnny Kimbler and Brandon Smith will provide the music.
Trevor Keller, Travis Shupe, Josh Ervin, Colin Keller, Marty Laney, Mickey Laney, Greg Gillenwater and Kendall Gibson will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Caris Hospice and Health Care, Amedysis Home Health, the staff of Clinch River Health Care Services and Dr. Todd Cassell for their love and care of James.
