Jack Leon Meade, 87, Nickelsville, VA, passed away, Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.

Jack was born on July 25, 1936, in Scott County, VA, to the late Charlie E. Meade, and Sarah (Burke) Meade.

Along with his parents, his wife, Margaret Lou Sluss Meade; son, Gary “Meado” Meade; son-in-law, Larry Glen “Dickie” Dockery; and brother, Roy “Buck” Meade preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Debbie Jo Dockery, Nickelsville, VA; grandchildren, Matthew Dockery (Kim), Castlewood, VA, Mark Dockery (Katie Jo), Nickelsville, VA, and Meagan J. Meade, Nickelsville, VA; great grandchildren, Alexis Kite, Castlewood, VA, Jordan Dockery, Kedric Dockery, Jackson Dockery, and Loxley Jo Dockery , Nickelsville, VA; sisters-in-law, Joyce Meade, Nickelsville, VA, and Virginia Campbell, Nickelsville, VA; good friends, Cathy Criswell, Nickelsville, VA, and Sherry Burton, Nickelsville, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m., Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 7:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Rance Edwards and Rev. Steve Collins officiating. Greg and Becky White will provide the music.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00p.m., Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the Free Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Nickelsville, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:45p.m., for the graveside service.

Adam White, Colton Stapleton, Vance Gilmer, Connor Gilmer, Todd Criswell, and Ed Seiber will serve as pallbearers. Billy Castle, Jerry Stapleton, Gary Cox, Johnny Gilmer, Conley Gilmer, and Miky Campbell will serve as honorary pallbearers.
