Chuck was born in Lebanon, VA on May 4, 1972, and was the son of Thelma (Holbrook) Smith and Samuel Grover Hurd.
Chuck was a lover of reptiles. He housed many over the years until his health prevented him from doing so.
Surviving is his mother, Thelma "Byrd" Smith, Gate City, VA; his father and step-mother, Sam and Penny Hurd, Kingsport, TN; along with many, many friends from all over the country.
His friends may visit at his residence at any time.
A celebration Chuck's life will be held at the Hurd Cemetery, Castlewood, VA, Sunday, June 30, 2019. Those wishing to attend can meet at the residence of his mother, Byrd at 10:00 a.m.
