Larry Glen Hughes, 63, Kingsport, TN passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN.
Larry was born in Mississippi on April 24, 1954. He was the son of the late Edward Leroy and Geneva (Sanford) Hughes.
In addition to his parents, his granddaughter, Haylea Marie Hughes preceded him in death.
He is survived by his fiancée, Carolyn Carter, Gate City, VA; step-daughters, Samantha Carter, Gate City, VA and McKayla Carter, Gate City, VA; sons, Larry Paul Adams, AL and Derek Glen Hughes and fiancée, Silvia Hurd, Kingsport, TN; step-son, Jeffery Carter, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Derek Glen Hughes, Jr., Dylan Ray Hughes, and Paul Adams; sister, Doris Hariel and husband, Larry, MS; brothers, Howard Hughes, Edward L. Hughes, Jr. and wife, Benita, Michael Hughes, Billy Joe Hughes and wife, Eva, John Hughes and wife, Dianne, and Gregory Hughes, all of MS; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Gate City Funeral Home. Military funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Honor Guard. Funeral services will follow with Pastor Vern Hall officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to Gate City Funeral Home to help with the funeral cost
