Evelyn Hughes, 88, Kingsport, TN passed away, Monday, January 14, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Hughes was born in Scott County, VA on April 27, 1924 to the late Charles and Ella Campbell.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Rev. Gene G. Hughes; son, Gary Hughes; sisters, Gladys Gillespie, Ruth Pleasant, Mary Puckett, Annie Bishop, Carrie VanNorstrand, Alice Phillips, Rhea Moore; brothers, William Campbell, Claude Campbell, Vernon Campbell and great grandson, Elijah Quinn Blaisdale preceded her in death.
Surviving is her daughter, Katrina Curtis and husband, Tony, Kingsport, TN; son, Robin Hughes, Kingsport, TN; Kyle B. Campbell, Fall Branch, TN; grandchildren, Megan Blaisdale, OH, Vanessa Curtis, OH, Amanda Sparks, OH, Shannon Blankenship, OH, Jared and Micah Curtis, Kingsport, TN, Ryan Hughes, OH and Ethan Hughes, OH; 8 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Katrina and Tony Curtis. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Chris Alford officiating. Trey Dishner and Christina Alford will provide the music.
Burial will follow the service at the Stallard/Gray Cemetery in the Midway community of Scott County, VA. Grandsons and Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
