Eva Sue Cassell Hughes, 70, passed away unexpectedly at her home, Sunday, November 29, 2009.
She was a devoted wife, sister and aunt. She was a member of Hansonville Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Sophia Cassell; two brothers, Walter Cassell and Carl Cassell.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Bill Hughes; sister, Danah Johnson and husband, Floyd, all of Lebanon, VA; two brothers, Junior Cassell and wife, Thelma, Lebanon, VA, Don Cassell and wife, Caroline, Nickelsville, VA; a special niece, Kathy McAmis and husband, Jeff, Lebanon, VA; special great niece and great nephew, Hannah and Austin McAmis, who were the pride and joy of her life. She is also survived by several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Carlos Wolfe officiating. Music will be provided by the Lee Smith Singers.
Burial will follow the service at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA.
Pallbearers will be David Cassell, Jerald Cassell, James Cassell, Eddie Daugherty, Lance Phillips and Harold Lucas.
Gate City Funeral Home is serving the Hughes family.
