Hoyt Presley Bledsoe

Hoyt Presley Bledsoe, 84, Blackwater, VA, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Holston Valley Medical Center.

Hoyt was born in Scott County, VA, on September 29, 1940. He was the son of the late Hillard and Charmie Livesay Bledsoe. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Bledsoe, Wayne Bledsoe, Jerry Bledsoe, and grandson, Tyler Bledsoe.

Left to cherish his memory are the love of his life for 66 years, Phyllis Hood Bledsoe, Blackwater, VA; son, Keith Bledsoe (Myra), Richmond, KY; daughter, Sherri Christian (Jeff), Church Hill, TN; brothers, Ralph Bledsoe (Jo), Stickleyville, VA, Mike Bledsoe (Kathaleen), Duffield, VA; sisters, Stella Burren Evans (Don), Gary Indiana, and Debbie Burchell, Blackwater, VA; grandchildren, Beth Long (Carson), Jared Carter (Katie); Alisha Bledsoe (Fiancé, Josh); step grandchildren, Caleb Christian (Jessica), Creed Christian (fiancée, Tieran), Cason Christian, Elizabeth Neal (Jessie), and Heather Foucht (Caleb) ; and 4 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11-12 p.m., Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 12:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Brother T.J. Hood and Brother Robert Slone officiating. Kaylor’s Chapel Quartet and Donnie Evans will provide the music.

Graveside services will follow at the Robbins Cemetery, Pattonsville, VA.

Jeff Christian, Jared Carter, Donnie Evans, Emmanuel Burchell, Jeffery Bledsoe, Dwayne Bledsoe, and Michael Jr., Bledsoe will serve as pallbearers. Gene Bowen, Maynard Bledsoe, Fred Bledsoe, Eddie White, and Bill Bledsoe will serve as honorary pallbearers.
