Hazel Mae Crabill Hood, 86, Weber City, VA passed away, Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Nova Healthcare, Weber City, VA.
Hazel was born on November 29, 1928, daughter of the late Austin Phillip and Odessa Scott Crabill. She was born in Strasburg, VA and grew up in Daniels, MD.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Rev. Rufus Hood, SR; grandson, Richard Gilliam; brothers, Austin Crabill, Robert Crabill; sisters, Vivian Terry, Betty Long, Sharon Hood and an infant sister preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Matney, Chucky, TN, Patty Bledsoe and husband, Robert, Duffield, VA, Selma Hood, Duffield, VA, Sandie Williams and husband, Stanley, Duffield, VA; sons, Rufus Hood, JR and wife, Sherry, Gate City, VA, Evangelist Garry Hood and wife, Debbie, Duffield, VA, David Hood and wife, Rhonda, Gate City, VA; sister, Shirley Shiflett, Elkton, VA; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren ; 2 great great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residences of her children. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2015 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Garry Hood and Evangelist David Hood officiating. A eulogy will be given by Rufus Hood and the Hood Family will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Burchett Cemetery in the Pattonsville Community of Scott County, VA. Dwayne Gilliam, Jacob Schwarting, Robert Lee Hamm, Nathan Hood, Luke Peace, Brad Hood and Russ Williams will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Nova Health and Rehab Center for their care of their Mother.
