Robert Omer "Bob" Hilton, 89 of Clinchport, VA went to be with the Lord, Thursday, January 09, 2014 at his residence after a long period of declining heath.
Bob was born in Scott County, VA on May 21, 1924 to the late Hammy Milburn and Eva Pruitt Hilton. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Tobe Hilton; sisters, Cassie Radford and Cordie Wells; and his son-in-law, Victor Clasby preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years and caretaker, Linda Stanley Hilton, Clinchport, VA; daughters, Lavada Clasby, Clinchport, VA, Barbara Dean and husband, J.M., Clinchport, VA, Wanda Hubbard and husband, Denny, Indianapolis, IN, Patty Davis and husband, Jerry, Burkesville, KY, and Mary Stanley and husband, Benny, Jasper, VA; sons, Jessie Hilton and wife, Janet, Speers Ferry, VA, Robert Kyle Hilton, Clinchport, VA, Charlie P. Hilton and wife, Carolyn, Blackwater, VA, and Terry Hilton, Duffield, VA; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sister, Cora Owens, Mabe, VA; sisters-in-law, Helen Starnes, Mabe, VA and Ruby Stanley, Mabe, VA; special friends, Paul Bright, Hiltons, VA, George Howard, Kingsport, TN, Gary Russell, Jonesville, VA, Kenny Fannon, Duffield, VA, and Randy Compton, Weber City, VA; along with several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Cecil Kerns and grandson, Eddie Hubbard officiating. Cecil Kerns will provide the music.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the Hall Cemetery, Stanleytown by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. Michael Hilton, Benny Stanley, Jr., Don Clasby, Ronnie Rhoton, Marty Stanley, and Eddie Hubbard will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m, Sunday to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family would like to thank Leona Sexton, Barbara Burke, Jennifer Carrico Stanley, the staff of PACE, and to all of his children for their love, care and dedication to Dad and Mom.
