Dennis Earl Hill, 62, West Carter's Valley, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2010. Mr. Hill was born in Sullivan County, TN on January 14, 1948, the son of the late Almer Clyde, Sr., and Ruby Elizabeth McNew Hill.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a mechanic with the Tennessee Eastman.
Surviving is his wife, Glinda Marshall Hill, Mt. Carmel, TN; son, Gregory Hill, Mt. Carmel, TN; grandchildren, Raymond Allen Hill, Lawton, OK and Leanna Michelle Hill, Lawton, OK; sisters, Wanda Hill, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Wilma Williams and husband, Dale, Gate City, VA, Kate Lane and husband, Dewey, Kingsport, TN, and Mary Smith and husband, Bill, Gate City, VA; brothers, Gary Hill, Rogersville, TN, Wayne "Barlow" Hill and wife, Carol, Ft. Blackmore, VA, and Almer Clyde Hill, Jr. and wife, Lori, Ft. Blackmore, VA, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Riley Boy and the Rev. Mike Ervin officiating. Bob Brickey will provide the music.
Military graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Marshall Family Cemetery in the Castlewood community of Scott County, VA by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post # 265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Honor Guard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
