William Edwin Herron, 82, Gate City, VA passed away, Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Indian Path Medical Center.
Mr. Herron was born in Scott County, VA on November 18, 1932. He was a son of the late
Kelly and Martha Herron.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War and retired from Tennessee Eastman.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Margaret Herron; sister, Marie Herron; and brother, Hiram Herron preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter, Robin Herron Sampson and husband, Michael, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Adam Sampson and wife, Emily, Gate City, VA and Rebecca Sampson, Kingsport, TN; great grandchildren, Will Sampson, Abygayle Sampson, Lily Sampson, and Gracie Sampson; brothers, Joe Herron and wife, Beulah, Gate City, VA and Ernest “Pete” Herron and Trellis, Kingsport, TN; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, May 3, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Michael Sampson officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m, Monday, May 4, 2015 at Holston View Cemetery. Weber City, VA. Adam Sampson, Aaron Anthony Kilgore, Danny Kilgore, Ron Herron, Brent Herron, Bobby Burke, Pat Elliott, and David Scott will serve as pallbearers. Deacons and friends from Community Fellowship Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbeares.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Monday to go in procession to the graveside service.
