Charles Carson Hensley,78, Yuma, VA went to be with the Lord, Monday, November 27, 2017. He was home with his loving family at the time of his passing.
Charles was born in Hawkins County, TN on July 10, 1939 and was the son of the late Thomas F. and Nannie Pet (Walters) Hensley.
He worked at Kingsport Foundry for 24 years before retiring in 1984.
He was a faithful member of Catron’s Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill Hensley and wife, Ruth, Albert Hensley, Kathy Hensley and Ruby Hensley; brother-in-law, Willie Pierson preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Marie “Ash” Hensley; daughters, Tina Hensley Heck and husband, Earl and Lisa Hensley Lane; son, Charles Hensley, Jr. and wife, Vonda; seven grandchildren, Joe Hensley and wife Lela Hart, Amanda Hensley Carter and husband, Jessie, Stephanie Hensley and fiancé, Daniel Ray, Courtney Hensley and fiancé, Eric Pope, Thomas Hensley, Michaela Lane, and Samantha Lane; 9 great-grandchildren; a special friend who was like a grandson, Samuel Newland: brothers, Clayton Hensley and wife, Grace, J.B. Hensley and wife, Wanda, and Orville Hensley; sisters, Georgia Thacker, Leona Pierson, Virgie Thacker and husband, Dan, Ola Bellamy and husband, Harry, Margie Tolley and husband, Larry, Grace Jones, and Phyllis Reynolds and husband, Gary; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hensley; along with several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Catron’s Chapel Church, Yuma, VA. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 1, 2017 in the Catron’s Chapel Church with the Minister Larry Tolley and Minister Samuel Newland officiating. Budford Quillen Family will provide the music.
Graveside services will follow the service at Hensley Cemetery in Speers Ferry. Trevor Bellamy, Dennis Hensley, Daniel Thacker, Brandon Hensley, Scott Hensley, Roger Hensley, Tommy Jones, Alvin Jones, Greg Bellamy, and Tony Bellamy will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Darroll Lane, Jessie Carter, Daniel Ray, Doc Hensley, Tim Thacker, David Thacker, Jeff Thacker, and Johnny Thacker.
