Anna Lee McDavid Helms joined Jesus and her family in Heaven on February 18, 2011 at Holston Manor in Kingsport.
Born April 13th, 1912, she lived most of her life in Scott County residing at Holston Manor for the last several years. Anna was a devout Christian and especially enjoyed bible study and southern gospel music. She was one of the longest living members of the Nottingham United Methodist Church family. She was devoted mother and grandmother, and beloved by her family and many friends at church and Holston Manor.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband Atwood Helms in 1947, son Jackie Atwood Helms in 1988, and sisters Myrtle McDavid, Mrs. Edna Curtis, Mrs. Jeanelle Moore, and Ms Janie B. McDavid.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Wanda Helms of Gate City, VA; granddaughters Jennifer Jayne and husband Daryl of Maces Springs, VA, and Margaret Helms of Kingsport, TN; grandson Barry Helms and wife Ginger of Weber City, VA; great-grandchildren Andrew Jayne, Jordan Jayne, Cody Helms, and Emily Helms; great-great-grandson Samuel Barrett Jayne; and brother William E. "Ted" McDavid.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20th in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Bill Porter officiating.
Graveside services will follow at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
