Duffield, VA – Clifford H Hass, 85, Rye Cove Community, went to Heaven cradled in the arms of Jesus and surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, December 26, 2009.
Clifford was born June, 26, 1924 to Arthur and Maxie (Egan) Hass. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Clifford attended Cox's Chapel Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sallie Mae Darnell Hass, one twin son, James Ferrell Hass, two great-grandsons, by a twin brother, Millard Hass and 14 other brother and sisters, and special foster son, Howard McNew.
Surviving are his eleven children, Sherrill Hass and wife Pauline; Murrill Hass and wife Faye; Marcella Osborne and husband Hobart; Earl Hass and wife Ilene; Dearl Hass and wife Ann; Rita Perry and husband James; Gary Hass and wife Linda; Leon Hass and wife Brenda; Benny Hass and wife Kathy; Denny Hass and wife Donna; Phillip Hass; daughter-in-law, Jean Hass; 23 grandchildren, Tammy (Mike) Cassell; Jeff Hass and Amy Boyd; Darrell (Shannon) Stacey; Daniel (Cathy) Stacey; Jason (Vicky) Stacey; Beverly (Doug) Musick; Traci (Danny) Kerns; Connie (Bo) Griffin; Janet (Kenneth) McNew; Cindy (Mickey) Vaughn; Kristi (Keith) Begley; Chandra (Chuck) Perry; Becky (Bobby) Rhea; Leona Hass; Crystal (Chase) Aistrop; Justin (Deana) Hass; Noah Hass; Shane (Stephanie) Hass; Savanna Hass; Chad Hass and Brandy Stanley; Toby Hass; Sheena Hass and a special granddaughter, Susan (Rusty) Qualls; 25 Great-Grandchildren and one expectant one; special foster daughter-in-law, Dorothy McNew and two foster grandchildren; special companion, Boots.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2009 at Gate Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral with the Rev. Mike Gilliam, Rev. Ray Dockery and Brother Danny Kerns officiating.
Music will be provided by the Sparkman Family and Durham's Chapel Quartet.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the Flanary/Hass Cemetery (the Old Home Place) in Rye Cove, VA.
The family will meet at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Grandsons and Granddaughters will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Old Midway Church, c/o Denny Hass, 117 Georgia Drive, Duffield VA 24244.
The family would like to express their appreciation for all the kindness shown during his illness and everyone's prayers, calls and visits.
