Harold Fred Kendrick – Gate City, VA
Harold Fred Kendrick, 87, Gate City, VA passed away, Friday, April 18, 2025, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Harold was born in Church Hill, TN on April 22, 1937, and was the son of the late Lonnie and Edna (Robinette) Kendrick.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired from the Kingsport Press, and a member of the Alley Valley Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, a grandson, Aiden Talbott, stepmother, Kate (Jones) Kendrick, son-in-law, Leonard Talbott, and brothers, Edward Kendrick and Don Kendrick preceded him in death.
Harold is survived by his loving wife, Nell (Stapleton) Kendrick, his children, Anita (Danny) Howell, Michael (Karen) Kilgore, Rhonda (Ronnie) Hicks, Lisa Kendrick, and Edna Talbott, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, sister, June (Paul) Monroe, sister-in-law, Shirley Kendrick, along with several nieces, nephews, and many many friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the Gate City Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Harmon Willis officiating. Eddie Roberts will provide the music.
Military Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in the Midway community of Scott County, VA by members of the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265 of Gate City, VA.
His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Ronnie Gene Lane, Danny Howell, Jim Tate, Lee Roy Davis, Wayne Sanders, Ronnie Hicks, and the Deacons of Addington Frame Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to their family and the 5th floor staff of Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center for their love and care.
