Mrs. Maxie Loraine Hammonds, 68, Manville, VA passed away, Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Hammonds was born in Scott County, VA on April 14, 1944 to the late Walter and Lona Strong Fields.

In addition to her parents, her sisters, Bill Gillenwater, Shirley Monroe, and Katherine Ball, and brother,
Gene Fields preceded her in death.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Jimmie Hammonds, Manville, VA; daughter, Connie Lane and husband, Randall, Ft. Blackmore, VA; sons, Marty Hammonds and wife, Michelle, Weber City, VA and Tim Hammonds, Manville, VA; special grandson, Bradon Hammonds, grandchildren, Tori Gilbert, Timmie Hammonds, Cody Hammonds, and Misty Begley; special great granddaughter, Katherine Starnes; great grandchildren, Grady Hammonds, Caleb Mann, Layken Begley, Ava Begley, Justin Barnette, and Katie Barnette; sister, Dorothy Lawson and husband, Garney, Yuma, VA; brothers, Paul Fields, Manville, VA and Claude Fields, Gate City, VA; special niece, Kitty Mann along with several other nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Allen Hensley and Rev. Roy Lane officiating. Gina Hubbard and Mike Taylor will provide the music.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the Carter Cemetery on Copper Ridge. Timmie Hammonds, Cody Hammonds, Ritchie Starnes, Johnny Kimbler, Robert Sizemore, and Keith Davidson will serve as pallbearers.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., Thursday to go in procession to the graveside service.
