Mary Mamilee Hammonds, 73, Kingsport, TN passed away, Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Ms. Hammonds was born in Scott County, VA on March 6, 1937, the daughter of the late Wrightly Abrams Hammonds and Margaret Adeline Peters Hammonds.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Wilma N. Monroe, and two infant sisters; brothers, Robert Paul Hammonds, Herbert Hammonds, and one infant brother; brothers-in-law, Frank Matheson and Colen K. Monroe.
She is survived by her son, Earnest Ray Hammonds, sisters, Margaret Strong, Kingsport, TN, Beatrice H. Lane, Duffield, VA, Hazel V. Matheson, Kingsport, TN and Louella H. Mays, Kingsport, TN, brother, James M. Hammonds, Yuma, VA and a special niece, Margaret Good, Weber City, VA along with several other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, August 1, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her sister, Margaret Strong. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Otto Gibson officiating. The Henry Family will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August2, 2010 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Monday to go in procession to the graveside.
