Louis Calvin "L.C" Hammonds, 68, entered into rest November 13, 2009 at the Kingston Center, Duffield, VA.
He was born November 25, 1940 in Scott County, VA to the late Canary and Bertha McDavid Hammonds.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Lilburn, Paul Ellis, Claude and Harry Hammonds.
Survivors include his son, Merle and wife, Mary Hammonds, OH; daughters, Drema Arlien Schmitz and Lema Jerlina Tackett, both of OH; granddaughters, Katie, Hayleigh, McKenna, Destiny, Natalee, Lauren and Mallory; grandsons, Parker, Andrew, Adam and Tyler; great granddaughter, Ashton Brandhuber; brother, Curtis Hammonds, Castlewood, VA; sisters, Myrtle Jean Sexton and husband, Worley, Gate City, VA, Patsy Darnell and husband, James, Gate City, VA and Hazel Ervin, Gate City, VA; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the home of his sister, Myrtle Sexton.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2009 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Mark Sexton and Rev. Eugene Sexton officiating.
Music will be provided by Jesus Only Ministries and Leann and Haleigh Darnell.
Burial will follow the service at Adams Cemetery, Copper Ridge Community.
Pallbearers will be Jason Darnell, Rickey Darnell, Mickey Darnell, Billy Hammonds, Kelly Sexton and Tony Grizzle.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Poole, Jackie Sexton, Earl Darnell, Eugene Sexton, Jr., and Ayden Sexton.
Gate City Funeral Home is serving the Hammonds family.
