Mrs. Hammonds was born in Sullivan County, TN on April 9, 1949, the daughter of the Maggie L. White McDavid and the late John L. McDavid.
Surviving is her husband, Raymond C. Hammonds, Hiltons, VA; mother, Maggie L White McDavid, Gate City, VA; daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Payne and husband, Kevin, Johnson City, TN; son, Gregory S. Hammonds, Hiltons, VA; step grandson, Aaron Payne, Johnson City, TN; sister, Phyllis Stewart and husband, Joe, Gate City, VA; brother, William L (Bill) McDavid and wife, Lisa, Gate City, VA; niece and nephews, Jennifer Stewart -Glenn, Jason Stewart, Logan McDavid, and Landon McDavid; great nephews, Nate and Gabriel Glenn.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, June 26, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her mother Maggie McDavid. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Buford Blankenbeckler and the Rev. Eckel Herron officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2011 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
