Bradley Ellis Hammonds, 69, Gate City, VA passed away, Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Hammonds was born in Scott County, VA on October 2, 1941, the son of Henry Alfred and Lillian Marie Owens Hammonds. He was a retired foreman with Tennessee Eastman.
A sister, Patsy Hammonds and brothers Glen and Fred Hammonds preceded Ellis in death.
Surviving in addition to his parents, Henry "Bill" and Lillian Hammonds, Gray, TN is his wife, Dorothy Spivey Hammonds, Gate City, VA; daughters, Donna Darnell and husband, Martin, Kingsport, TN, Melissa "Missy" Jennings, Gate City, VA, Lisa Dalton and husband, John, Houston, TX, and Tammy Cross and husband, Jonathan, Kingsport, TN; son, Chad Hammonds and wife, Julie, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Marlana Williams, Brad Dalton, Jocelyn Newton, Ashley Dalton, Trey Howe, Zachary Howe, Lily Hammonds, and Maggie Hammonds; great-grandson, Harrison Williams; sisters, Marcelina McNeese and husband, Odie, Nashville, TN, Erma McCulley and husband, John, Gray, TN, and Juanita Dishner and husband, Curtis, Gray, TN; brother, Keith Hammonds and wife, Arlene, Gray, TN; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; along with several niece, nephews, and many special friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, June 24, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Elder Jimmy Combs and the Rev. Shannon Salyer officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the family cemetery, Copper Ridge in Scott County, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Tony Tipton, Michael Tipton, John Spivey, Don Spivey, and Teddy Mullins will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., Saturday to go in procession to the graveside service.
