Cecil Curtis Hammonds, 80, Gate City, VA passed away, Friday, April 12, 2013 at Greystone Manor in Castlewood, VA.
Cecil was born in Scott County, VA on July 12, 1932 to the late Canary and Bertha McDavid Hammonds.
In addition to his parents, his brothers Lilburn, Claude, Harry, and L.C. Hammonds preceded him in death
He is survived by his sisters, Myrtle Jean Sexton, Gate City, VA, Patsy Darnell and husband, James, Gate City, VA and Hazel Ervin, Gate City, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 15, 2013 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Mark Sexton, Rev. Eugene Sexton and Rev. Bufford Blankenbeckler officiating. Leann, Hayley, Vayda Darnell; Rev. Mark Sexton and Rev. Eugene Sexton will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted following the service on Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Adams Cemetery, Manville, VA in the Copper Ridge Community. Mick Darnell, Rick, Darnell, Kelly Sexton, Anthony Poole, Tony Grizzle and Bill Hammonds will serve as pallbearers. Dillon Grizzle, Bobby Poole, Jacob Darnell, Jackie Sexton and Jason Darnell will serve as honorary pallbearers.
